Vintage Overview
Vintage started with a frost, leaving lighter crops. The summer was warm and relatively dry with rain at the end of the growing season, producing more typical vintage, not overly ripe , but no green notes. Well balanced acid, tannins and alcohol lead to a bold , flavorful but well structured wine.

Winemaking
Grapes were de-stemmed with minimal crushing of berries. When the fermentation started, the juice was pumped over and or punched down twice daily to maximize extraction and tannin structure. Once the malolactic fermentation was completed, the wine was racked from lees and aged for 8 months in new and seasoned oak. We used 40 % new French oak of medium toast levels, which gave a more refined finish to the wines. Barrel evaluation and racking occurred in the spring to define the blend. Additional barrel racking occurred prior to bottling in July 2022
