Vintage Overview
2023. The growing season was relatively hot, sunny and dry days with cool nights through harvest of the whites and early picked reds. This led to clean fruit and good acidity for both the whites and the majority of reds and roses. This Petit Verdot was allowed to hang longer and then was picked just before a storm system. Not quite as ripe as 2019-The resulting fruit was still good for a drying barn but spent more time in the heat to get sugar levels higher.

Winemaking
Grapes were harvested then delivered to a tobacco drying barn and dried to 35 brix. Then it was crushed and fermented until the winemaker decided to stop the fermentation with brandy. Once fermentation had stopped, the wine was racked into French oak and French spirits barrels and aged for 18 months.. (Brandy was using Vidal Blanc from Barren Ridge.)
